We are looking to hire a talented and experienced Video Editor / Producer and Editor to join our growing, remote team. As Video Editor / Producer, you will be responsible for the complete production and editing of our various types of videos, podcasts, and audio projects for Mel Wells. Initially, you will be supporting the production of the Love, Sex & Magic podcast. Overtime, your role will expand across the many projects and offerings that Mel creates.

Our ideal Video Editor / Producer has expert knowledge of modern video editing techniques, and podcast processes, is able to identify and extract clips for social media Facebook, Youtube,Instagram and paid promotion on social media platforms, and above all, understands whole-heartedly the community we engage with.

We are looking for someone based in (or can move to) either Miami or Costa Rica, and someone who can start on a project basis for the first 6 months with room for rapid growth in the business. This is a part time position but may lead to full time in the future.

Love, Sex & Magic

The Love, Sex & Magic podcast is a show for people who believe they CAN have it all AND know they deserve it; relationships that are healthy AND passionate, careers that are successful AND fulfilling, and a life filled with meaning, purpose and magic.

Each week, Mel sits down with some of the most brilliant, inspiring and knowledgable voices in the fields of love sex and relationships, health, spirituality, self love, and personal development such as Dr. Christiane Northrup, Gabrielle Bernstein, Preston Smiles, and many more.

The podcast is featured on all popular platforms, and is also distributed in video format via YouTube. Your job will be to film, edit and cut the content recorded for each episode, as well as gathering shorter pieces of content for us to promote the show on social media and through YouTube.

Some of what you’ll do:

Join Mel in-person when she carries out her quarterly “podcast week” which involves interviewing multiple guests across five days that will need filming and editing for the weeks thereafter. Travel expenses and accommodation paid by Mel Wells. Some of these podcasts will be shot in person.

Edit audio and video for our podcasts, events, interviews using the best editing techniques.

Ensure that all video clips are edited with captions for our viewers, and sound effects, music and inserted graphics where necessary

Create graphics for video thumbnails (IGTV and YouTube)

• Ensure the projects follow a logical sequence

Create the final cut for publishing

Stick to a tight deadline and turnaround time

Projects you’ll be working on initially:  

Mel’s podcast, Love, Sex & Magic, which is streamed via podcast platforms and also on YouTube

Developing creative ways for us to engage our audience and working with our Executive Assistant to strategise

You have proven experience as a Video Editor / Producer or relevant role, you have hands-on experience with editing software. Your genius flowstate is creative and you have an artistic skill set. You have the ability to work to a tight schedule with limited instructions and translate ideas into complete projects.

You are friendly, warm, and fun to be around. You love personal growth, spirituality and are always hungry for more learning. You’re punctual, organised and great at communication. You are great at working as part of a team, but also love having your own area to take the reins with! You have excellent attention to detail and always lead with solution-based thinking, rather than problem-based thinking. You consider yourself a great all rounder.

Your Specific Responsibilities

You will be working closely with Mel and her team;

Supporting our Executive Assistant in coordinating the guest research, scheduling, and planning the podcast calendar for upcoming episodes.

Filming, editing, and contributing to the development of the podcast content (video and audio). We expect you to have suitable camera and recording equipment to film and edit in Mel’s brand aesthetic.

Perform video and audio editing tasks such as using audio editing software (that you’re proficient in) to clean up the audio interviews

Prepare show notes for each episode

Schedule the episode on various podcast platforms (Spotify, Mel’s website, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, etc.)

Tailor, adapt and edit content for podcast/video/social media

This Position Is For You If

You are based in Miami or Costa Rica. You are organised, self-motivated and can lead, manage and take direction of your own tasks. You aren’t shy about having responsibility and welcome constructive feedback on your work. You are passionate about personal growth, spirituality and are always hungry to learn more and grow as a person both personally and professionally. You have an excellent work ethic and strive for the best. You have great English, and good writing skills. You have a great eye for detail and care deeply about excellence. You are organised and efficient. You keep a level head if things go wrong and are great at having a positive, solution based attitude. This Position Isn’t For You If

You aren’t based in the right place, as this role will require you to be available for our podcast batch-recording weeks. You don’t feel confident in your ability to learn fast and get overwhelmed easily. You are not a creative thinker. Your editing skills are basic and you have little time to ensure things are produced in an excellent way. You aren’t organised. You are already doing a ton of different things and this will just be a “filler” for you, work wise. You are often late to reply to people, weak at communication, or can disappear for days at a time. You do not have any experience whatsoever in any of the skills required. (Please DO NOT apply if you do not have experience in this field). This role is not open to agencies or contractors. Applications filled out by agencies or contractors who wish to expand their client roster will not be considered.

Commitment

This will start immediately (JUNE 2021). We require you to be available specifically for the quarterly podcast recording week in Miami, as well as the week thereafter to edit all content filmed prior. There will also be the opportunity for you to travel to Costa Rica for certain projects. This is a part-time project-based opportunity, which we intend to grow into a full time role within the company.

This is a long term position. We are looking for someone that wants to grow with us over time.

Starting salary will be a set retainer fee based on hours per project

Work from anywhere – this is a virtual position unless otherwise specified for certain projects
